The Early Bronze Age in Europe

It is worth recalling the recent exhibitions devoted to the Early Bronze Age. The first was held in 2021 at the Museum of Prehistory in Halle, Germany. It was an interesting exhibition, with the famous Nebra Sky Disc as its centerpiece. The disc was discovered in 1999 and is part of the museum’s permanent collection, but for this exhibition it was displayed alongside other renowned Early Bronze Age artefacts from European museums.

In the winter of 2021–22, the disc, together with many of the other European artefacts, moved to the British Museum. However, the main theme of that exhibition was Stonehenge. It was a remarkable exhibition and deserves a separate discussion.

From England, the Nebra Sky Disc travelled to a third exhibition, in Assen in the Netherlands. After the exhibition ended, the disc returned to its permanent display in Halle. Thus concluded the disc’s second European tour (the first took place in 2005–2007).
